System Change Not Climate Change

Whoever heard or red this sentence is maybe wondering about its meaning, imagines something specific about it or might have already gone over to acting. I met this sentence already earlier and made thoughts about it, expressed/shared these, developed them and try to realise the conclusions, I’ve drawn. For this purpose many possibilities and ways are open to us, to resist against a subsistence strategy, which apparently or partly obviously makes ruthless use of (alive) resources . If this concerns the suppression of non-human animals, the exploitation of fellow human beings or the ruin of ecosystems: all this means carry our planet off, make it – not least for human being – unlivable for more and more life forms and resemble all in its origin and motivation. These are means to an end for profit and its maximization of the capital accumulation of the consume orientated logic of growth – of the capitalist system.

This system consists out of many structures, in whose formation and preservation we take part, which we reproduce anew everyday always again. With every step, every thought and every act we decide to fortify these structures by going the apparently to us given way, holding on patterns or even believing to stride individualistic chosen paths. In spite of everything, an on growing part of humanity on this world is heading to a never before existing standardization. A modern life, determined by work and leisure, commodity against money, consume without ecologically and socio-economically critical consciousness and a more and more cruel as well precarious situation for human, animal and nature.

Therefore, with alert mind and sense, I seek to pay attention to my surroundings, to provide my aliments, to fathom the backgrounds of production of the goods I consider as my needs, to find out about the conditions of other people in other regions, because there are persisting dependencies over half of the planet here as well as everywhere. We are not alone and least of all independable, we need each other and are dependent on mutuality. Every human has its needs and freedom, but the borders of its reachability overlap already a long time in opposing direction. Thus I write “état d’urgance climatique – we already reached the emergency state long ago” on a transparent and this text. Because I’m tired of it. Because it makes me sad. And because in my opinion it seriously concerns many others (especially living around me), seeing, experiencing and changing such cruel and detestable procedures and circumstances on this planet.

Who is not changing, changes nothing. We all change ourselves and surrounding circumstances with every single act. We have the choice, to reproduce what we might well like but from inside don’t approve or to create and live alternatives. A big change is nothing else than many little changes together, in a short time, in succession on each other. We have the means to think, feel and act. I sense neither just nor fair to live in a reality, which is pretending to consume commodities, which either ruins our grounds, suppresses distant fellow human beings or exploits animals. I don’t like to remain silent and wait until something happens, at the same time watching the world going down, others suffering. I fight for a radically different climate – and with this I don’t only mean our weather conditions or temperature: I am sick of letting determine my living conditions by a detached powerful or ignorant lethargical mass.

I fight for self-determined life, for freedom, for responsible organization and structure of a conscious collective and for sustainable handling with that, which should be considered as equal by us: our earth.
